He is born

Everyone look at my newborn baby Honker! You can't see it here (his eyes are closed), but he has eyes that match his feet, so they're a lovely light brown-grey in the Petz palette, and they'll be a stunning deep sapphire in the Oddballz palette. This is a color mutation; his parents have black eyes, in order to most directly resemble the breed's rendering in the original Oddballz games. At this age, I can't drop him in the wicker basket or present box, so I can't easily test how his parent's hidden emoticon variations ave passed down. That will be a surprise for latter, I suppose.

When he's weaned off of his mother's milk (aka, when his .pet file mitoses off from his mother's .pet file into its own file that can be edited), I'm not sure whether to edit him into the Oddballz palette, where he will display with purple fur and blue feet like his parents. I could just keep him like this, in the Petz palette. I might also adopt him out to someone in the Petz community... I want to make Queenie@Phantasmagoria's Oddballz ports more popular, and the fact that Honker's original furfiles are all present and properly color-indexed in Petz' base game makes Honkers especially easy to share compared to, say, Modvark, which requires downloading new furfiles to display properly.

(Not that downloading new furfiles is that big a deal, but I like the *elegance* of modded content that require relatively little paraphanalia to function - in part due to how easy Petz makes it. I only ever download Spore mods that result in creations that the game considers "vanilla" enough to pollinate to Sporemedia, too, because I like sharing things with players who don't use mods!)
