"1999": Library_1999_GEISTNETWEBBROWSERPREVIEW

  • References the events of July 20th, 2000 as having already occurred. The original upload of this video had a different title and content. The current video description is "it's always been like this, right?" Sepiatone, the creator, is known to change the content of videos post-upload in their unfiction projects.

A youtube comment:

this video has changed. it's a GEISTNET preview now instead of a NUFOXBROWSER preview, and the voice over is a female TTS instead of a prerecorded male narrator

also, the call button is a volume button instead

the mention of the second employee who committed suicide is gone

Another youtube comment:

Oh there's a different voiceover now?? And a bit of the text was changed too

The part about the employee death coverup was slightly changed, and the ending text used to say something like "Like a game of Operator, improper care erodes reality quickly"

Post-2001: Butterfly Rot PSA

  • Appears to be a Windows XP desktop judging by the style of icons for Internet Explorer, Paint and the Recycle Bin; by comparison, the desktop briefly shown in "Nufox Branding Change" had pixel-art icons, indicating a Windows 2000 (or earlier) operating system. The icon for Nufox itself on the desktop is also different, being a centered fox head with closed eyes inside a sphere, instead of a 3d tilted fox head with open dot eyes.

Notes

(1.) Something is anomalous about the "rebrand" from Geistnet to Nufox. Note this, from the NIL Incident Footage:

The entire thing's made you feel sick since the rebrand. The immediate transition you felt from 1999 to 2000 was like grass being paved over with cement. Everything is just cement now. Cold, sterile, and fake. You didn't remember the office building being so big. You didn't remember being given your uniform. You didn't even remember working in a cubicle before New Year's.

Further evidence that something is reality-warpingly unnatural about the rebrand appears in "Bad Luck":

Things started to turn around when you applied for a job at this little startup company. It was a nice, cushy little job to be a programmer without deadlines. After all, this was about innovation, not trying to create a product. It was a very rare opportunity you didn't take for granted.

At the turn of the millennium, your luck ran out again. The entire building had changed; it shouldn't have been able to be as big as it was. The surroundings should've made sure of it. But there you were, looking at this giant building with everything around it still intact despite the space not allowing it.

It gave you a headache when you thought about it for too long.

Despite the interior being completely different, you found your cubicle anyway. It took you a bit to realize all the branding had changed, all at once in the span of a day. You were quick to find out the culture was different too. There were way more employees, and everything was corporate and steril. You hated it.

(2.) It/its pronouns are used for the male employee's new boss in "NIL Incident Footage."

The new boss is completely unaware of this too. She never told it because she knew it would make things worse. It's not like the boss could see it either; it's never been in the building. In fact, it's never truly seen one before.

You'd never find out about that, though.

It/its pronouns are also used for the female employee's boss in "Bad Luck."

Your saving grace was that the the boss was never in the room with you. You didn't bother to tell it why you wanted a room so bad. Thankfully, it was generous enough to give you one.

Considering the culture of the late 90's and early 2000's, the idea of an openly nonbinary/genderqueer human person holding even a minor managerial position in a highly "corporate" workplace would have been... I really don't know how to even begin to describe how different the world was to someone who didn't live through it. Unthinkable.

Considering the note about the boss having never truly seen a building, the clear implication of the it/its pronouns is that the boss is nonhuman. In addition, both videos describe the characters "calling administrator" while clicking the phone icon on the NIL interface, which links the user to the "Nufox Web phone."

You tried to call Administrator, but it was occupied with someone else on the line. Your boss doesn't know he's dead yet, it won't for a while.

Of course, you don't know that. You couldn't read any of this if you tried. You started spamming the call button.

"He" is the male employee from NIL Incident Footage:

You called Administrator, dying on the spot before it could do anything to help you.

The phone is answered -- too late -- by Lucky the Fox. Of course, Lucky himself, in the section of "Nufox Branding Change (2000)" dealing with how to use the e-book interface in the Nufox Informational Library (NIL) already told us the phone button contacts him:

Lastly, the phone buttons calls me! Feel free to ask me any questions.

Conclusion: the "new boss" isn't human because it's "Lucky the Fox." This would mean Lucky isn't just a corporate mascot, but an entity that exists in a similar fashion to "Maskholder" entity.

(3.) The "broadcaster" of the May 1999 Ritual Broadcast has the exact same voice as Lucky the Fox, the Nufox mascot introduced in 2000.

I know people have got to be talking about this unfiction series in textspace, and not just exclusively in Youtube videos, considering the popularity of the creator's previous Animal Crossing creepypasta series... but search engines refuse to show me anything. I literally get less than a single full page of search results. Often, search engines tell me there are no results whatsoever. When I do get results, they're the names of unrelated real-world products, or the usernames of random people on websites like github. The "AI assistant" on Google oh-so-helpfully tells me that there's no evidence whatsoever any such thing as a "nufox" unfiction project exists!!!

The first video came out a year ago; The most recent videos came out a month ago. And yet, there are there no search results. And "Nufox" + "Reddit" just has a user named nufox and some Miles "Tails" Prower fanart as results... for five fucking total results. I feel like I'm going crazy.

So I wrote this post, because I felt someone had to.
