Hello! I've seen you around some comms and I've really enjoyed reading your analysis posts (I'm not even into all of the things you are, but I think your writing style is interesting and what topics you cover are FUN). Anyway it seems like we have some similar interests even if there's no perfect overlap (ie. enjoying simulator games or generally liking anime). I also thought, even as AI's #1 hater that your thoughts on more ethical AI was interesting and nuanced even if I still felt the same (yeah I've been going through your posts a bit).

Is it alright if I drop a sub? I like hearing differing perspectives. That and I found your thoughts on discourse and stuff to be refreshing and relatable, it'd be nice to see more good faith engagement between people nowadays.

Any particular piece of writing of mine you liked best?

I'm not really sure if I have a particular favorite, I just liked seeing someone all geek out over simulator games and the mechanics of them (I lean towards gameplay over story myself). I did resonate with your post about keeping chickens (chickens are just CUTE). It's been a hot minute since I ever watched it but I did think your posts about Princess Tutu were pretty neat (I also went through your old cohost page about it), particularly I like your Mythoposting. Your readings of him as a disabled person spoke to me, as a disabled person.

What kinds of games do you play?

I need to find time to Mythopost more... my main struggle with writing analysis has been trying to find a way to adequately "cite" the source materials. Hand transcription of the official subs is kind of tedious at the best of times, and then I need to figure out how to format it attractively... and when I need to cite visual or auditory evidence in an analysis, such as changes in body language or tone of voice, I'm never sure how to go about doing it. It was already hard enough when I was working on platforms that had video hosting, or "limitless" image hosting. (Granted, I fully understand that that "limitless" hosting comes at a cost...) But without that? I'm even more unsure of how to make certain points...

Like for sims? Just farming stuff! Classic/pre-split Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons and Stardew Valley. (I've posted a little about both on my blahg before, mostly about character writing, funnily enough) :D But I do have to admit that seeing you Petzpost did bring back memories of being a young child with a ds and breeding puppies for aesthetics and naming the parents after characters in my fave ships lol.

(I would do so much for those little dinosaurs... If you ever get a chance to spend time with chickens up close. Do it! They're so curious and some even will sit down to be pet!!)

Oh yeah analysis is so much work. Note taking, checking sources, deciding your topic and different parts of the essay are ALL just one thing. Then it's WRITING the post and getting all your stuff in a row. (It's a lot. I am trying to write some Spawn analysis myself, among other things and I'm so overwhelmed)

Oh - I'd curious to see those posts? Also lol - I remember in Petz as a kid I did occasionally name pets after fictional characters (and downloaded a few hexed petz modeled after fictional characters, like Scooby Doo), but I don't remember if I tried to "ship" them. I definately remember naming breeding pairs in Zoo Tycoon after fictional animal couples, though - Lion1 and Lion2 would be Simba and Nala, for example.

The closest I've managed to get to some live chickens is seeing some live chicks for sale at a local agriculture store in the spring... I felt like I didn't really have the right to say "hey, can I hold them?" because I wasn't planning to buy, so I just watched...

Wait, I did get to hold one once as a kid or teen I think? But my autobiographical memory is very poor so I only remember That It Happened, if I had read it, with no first-person content. Like the difference between reading a wikipedia summary of a movie's plot and actually watching it.

I used to have a lot more time to write, too, but lately things have been wonky. And I also have my fanfic to continue working on... then again, I may end up having to link people to my own analysis eventually, to contextualize choices in my fic, so...

Here you go this is the tag for the current HM game I'm playing off and on and here's my Stardew Valley tag... I wrote some giant walls full of A VARIETY of topics when I first started blahgging so I apologize as you may have to swim through some stuff to find older posts about farming.

You know, I bet that was still painfully cute. Chickens are just awesome, up close and far away.

Ahh I hate it when that happens. You know something occured in your life, but your brain won't cooperate on telling you the exact details!

That sounds lowkey fun, actually. It's equivalent to a digital garden at that point but I can empathize with the annoyance since it IS a lot of work. Good luck with it, though. Being frugal with time and being effecient is tough!

Do you know if DW has any kind of oldest-first (rather than newest-first) view for tags, similar to the "chrono" modifier on Tumblr? I used to find it useful for reading through liveblogs on tumblr back when people did that a lot there.

(I've had memory problems for a long time, since at least my teens I think. I'm only in my 30s... I don't look forward to old age.)

It's very tough. I do have people I let preview my drafts, but I kind of wish I had a way to ask people experienced with ao3 for how to best structure the fics I write when I post them onto there.
